Position Title: SBG Underwriting Support Specialist III
Reports To: Small Business Support Team Leader

SUMMARY:
This position will provide support to underwriters in the Small Business Group. Working under the supervision of the Operations Team Leader, the person in this position will be responsible for completing tasks efficiently and accurately, ensuring that service expectations are met or exceeded. Effective organization and communication skills are essential in interfacing with a variety of internal staff as well as external service providers. The SBG Loan Underwriting Support is expected to communicate effectively. Under minimal supervision, the position performs a wide variety of functions relating to the underwriting documentation for all loan requests. Assist other SBG department employees as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
LEVEL III:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred or similar experience in a related field
  • 3 – 5 years’ work experience in a financial institution with a focus on due diligence and/or loan documentation
  • 3+ years of loan processing experience
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills evidenced in previous assignments
  • Demonstrates an understanding of applicable bank policies and procedures as they pertain to the satisfaction of loan closing conditions as well as vendor documents and services
  • Excellent knowledge of most common vendor documents – title work, AVM’s, appraisals, flood determinations, lien searches
  • Excellent knowledge of loan documents and requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of consumer lending and loans
  • Thorough knowledge of AppLink/Baker Hill, LaserPro, SharePoint, Navigator, and UCBI internal banking systems
  • Excellent personal computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL, WORD, email, etc.

  • Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.
