CenterPoint Energy is looking for a SAP EAM PM Configurer to join our IT Field Operations Team, located in Houston, TX.

You will have the ability to: be responsible for all aspects of design, development, configuration and support of SAP and other field operations solutions utilized by the Operations Department for gas, electric and generation. This is a hands-on role for an experienced SAP PM Configurer with excellent understanding of work orders and work order configuration, integration points to other SAP modules, third party interfaces and all core PM data. This position is a client facing role, and the first point of contact for our business teams to IT with system concerns or requests relative to all operations. To be successful in this role you will:

  • Works as an integral member of a small, highly professional, and dedicated team of SAP functional analysts and developers supporting SAP SM/PM and Operations business clients.
  • Responsible for design, configuration, and support of SAP applications used by CenterPoint Energy’s SAP ESD IT support organization.
  • Exercises subject matter expertise through functional support for break/fix, enhancements, patches, upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, investigating/analyzing solutions towards the resolution of complex production support issues relative to SAP SM/PM functionality.
  • Partners with business clients and IT leadership to ensure issues and enhancements are prioritized appropriately while considering ongoing and planned work activities.
  • Responsible for complex problem analysis including: determining the root cause, possible solutions, and implementation, and communication of the final solution.
  • Analyze business requirements and perform fit-gap analysis to come up with required configuration and development items.
  • Creates functional specifications based on user requirements and support needs.
  • Leads year end support pack testing/changes including the analysis of the ECC support pack contents and impact to existing process. Communicates such to clients and performs testing through SAP landscapes implementation.
  • Performs SAP SM/PM configuration with an emphasis on integration points to CCS/CRM, FI, MM, CATS and 3rd party systems.
  • Performs test activities and collaborates with clients and cross-functional teams to ensure user acceptance testing and successful implementation of enhancements/fixes to system.
  • Documents IT support activities and processes in collaboration with team members and external stakeholder including system documentation, design specification and required SOX documentation.
  • Supports all phases of projects and assignments, in whole or in part, with problem solving abilities, analytical skills and strategic knowledge to create impact on organization.
  • Develops broad business knowledge and industry perspective.
  • Relates to management and employees as a "thought leader" with a strong client satisfaction orientation. Establishes and maintains partnerships with business clients and IT/project team members.
  • Provides on-call support as needed during non-business hours for emergency issues.
  • Performs all aspects of work with a high degree of effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Mentors co-workers through teaching other team members analytical skills and problem solving.

Your background includes:

  • A Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience is required
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a SAP SM/PM configuration or support role for Field Operations. Practical experience in implementing, using, and supporting SAP SM/PM modules on the SAP ECC platform.
  • Experience in configuration, Master Data, and Integration with SAP CCS/CRM, Finance, Materials Management and 3rd party applications as evidenced by the ability to configure, implement, maintain, troubleshoot and test EAM components.
  • Working familiarity with EAM integration points with other SAP modules.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools (MS Excel, Word, Access) for analysis and documentation.
