Generate new business through sales and marketing efforts and to assist other departments within the organization to enhance and maintain existing business and accounts. Sell and promote technical products, like barrier films, VFFS, and MAP for packaging liquids, cheese, and proteins. Works closely with the R&D laboratory on development of blends and properties to meet customer specifications. To maintain all aspects of assigned accounts and development of new markets and accounts. Shields employees are expected to maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace at all times. Each employee should have a working understanding of their role in supporting the Food Safety Management System and the food safety hazards of the job to which they are assigned.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of this job is to update pricing, secure orders and ship product to our customer base. The Sales Representative should strive to grow their sales territory year over year in volume, dollars, profit and product diversity.

• Maximize profit potential of new and existing markets with an emphasis on barrier films and other high-performance, food grade products.
• Sell to new customers and new markets.
• Update quotes and work with customers to maximize usefulness of our product in their process.
• Work with all other departments closely to assist the sales department with work order flow.

• High School Graduate or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, years of sales experience may replace educational requirements.
• The candidate must have prior flexible packaging experience (5 years preferred). Barrier film sales experience is also preferred.
• Must have mastered all sales functions, including but not limited to: Large and small account management, weight and pricing calculations, company capabilities, job costs, industry specific knowledge related to flexible packaging and other packaging industries, general understanding of polyethylene principles and characteristics. It is preferable to have a strong technical knowledge of the flexible packaging industry.
