JOB SUMMARY

The Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Manager is responsible for the overall demand management and Sales and Operations Planning processes, resulting in balancing of demand and supply efforts for all product lines. This role with work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and other functions to lead and execute best practice Sales and Operations Planning processes across the enterprise to improve customer satisfaction and enhance results for the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages forecasting and inventory planning activities to meet global customer needs and comply with company goals/standards.
  • Leads team in effectively delivering strategic sourcing services across all categories of spend including chemicals, packaging materials, contract manufacturing, professional services, and other categories of goods and services.
  • Responsible for the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process including meetings related to product forecasts and financial projections, inventory plans, capacity planning, product end of life management, and new product planning.
  • Drives S&OP process to support actions that meet and exceed objectives on inventory goals, fill rate, on time delivery, obsolete inventory, planned vs. produced, etc.
  • Facilitates the S&OP process to ensure proactive communication and recommendations regarding significant current/potential supply performance problems to the appropriate stakeholders (including, but not limited to, schedule feasibility or non-compliance, material or capacity imbalance, excess inventory.)
  • Partners closely with key stakeholders to implement business strategies, validate forecast accuracy/methodology, provide input regarding inventory strategy and align financial and business plans with operational plans through the S&OP process.
  • Generates Slow Moving/Obsolete List issued monthly, in collaboration with the Sourcing Director.
  • Recommends replenishment parameter changes (e.g. safety stock, lead-times, min, max).
  • Establishes clear and robust KPIs to measure progress through S&OP process improvements and their tie to business revenue and profitability plans.
  • Serves as the business unit's point person on financial projections, product availability, production and inventory planning.
  • Responsible for the monthly and annual forecasting process.
  • Ensures through the sourcing process, that the team is optimizing the supply base and creating improvements in the overall supply chain by enhancing the competitive process.
  • Conducts monthly forecast meetings
  • Conducts monthly forecast meetings:
    • Discusses any changes in trends on a monthly basis.
    • Adjusts forecasts as needed in partnership with the Sales, Operations, and Buyers.
  • Keeps team members informed of fast/slow demand for items relative to forecast.
  • Creates presentations relating to the forecast and impacts on the forecast.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant years of experience preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years forecasting management using various forecasting techniques and algorithms in a consumer products or related environment.
  • Experience with statistical forecasting techniques.
  • Previous experience with Demand Planning and Forecast Software solutions.


Skills
  • Strong technical proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP purchasing/inventory software).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing industry.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to problem solve and use judgment to make sound decisions.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Works both independently and as part of a team.
  • Sets priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Working knowledge of the management of integrated forecast planning systems.
  • Uses forecasting systems to develop strategic and tactical solutions.
  • Forecasting software tool knowledge, helpful but not mandatory.
  • Detail oriented with a systems and numbers aptitude.
  • Sound analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Assertive with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Prioritizes and works well under pressure.
