Seeking Automation Sales Engineer for a longstanding and rapidly growing company in Plainwell, MI. The Sales Engineer is responsible for utilizing modern technology and relationship skills to prospect, engage, architect, estimate, and close deals for our Controls Engineering and Process Automation Services Team.


Position Responsibilities


Utilizing modern technology and relationship skills, you will be expected to prospect new clients and projects through new and existing relationships and bid spec market opportunities as available and appropriate.


You will be expected to work with the client to gather, understand, interpret and sometimes develop the specifications needed for the solutions to their challenges. From there you will develop/concept solutions and using company provided strategies, pricing and guidelines, build estimates for those solutions where ever possible. Help will be provided as needed if this experience is not possessed by the otherwise qualified candidate.


Once a deal is closed, you will be responsible for packaging the project for handoff to the production (project management and engineering) teams, and for coordinating the Project Kickoff Meeting to assure a good handoff and start to the project.


During and after the project execution, you will be responsible for checking in with both the Client Partner as well as the Project Team internally to assure that all is progressing well and that satisfaction is at a high level for all parties involved and escalate to Senior Management any concerns that exist.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in the controls engineering and process automation world through previous work with a systems integrator, related supplier or product manufacturer. Additionally, they will possess the know-how, to prospect and engage clients, read and interpret specifications, concept and quote solutions utilizing company provided strategies and guidelines.

  • Strong project and time management skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and innovative problem-solving skills

  • Minimum 5-10 years’ industry experience in Control System PLC and SCADA equipment; PLC programming

  • Experience with any / all of the following: Rockwell RS Logix and View Platforms, Inductive Automation (Ignition), Wonderware

  • Experience with Bid Spec Market for Controls and Automation Services is desirable but not required.


Targeted Sales Region for this Position


This position is intended to be targeted to business and municipalities in Michigan, West of Lansing and North of Plainwell. Other areas currently serviced by qualified candidates will also be considered (i.e. Northern Indiana for example). Exceptions for other areas will be considered for existing relationships that don’t compete with other team members.
