Northwest Native Expressions is now recruiting for a part-time Sales Associate!

The Sales Associate will promote and sell gallery art daily, and assist with gallery public relations, clerical duties, cash register, general gallery upkeep, and educate guests on Northwest Native culture and history.

Essential Functions

• Presents a professional image in all public contacts at the gallery and provides all guests with pleasant, friendly service. Strives to make a good impression on customers by continually learning details associated with the pieces offered for sale in the gallery.
• Uses cash register computer to enter customers’ purchases, including cash and credit card purchases.
• Balances cash drawer and completes Daily Cash Report and deposits per procedures.
• Maintains all gallery displays in a neat and clean appearance at all times.
• Performs cashier duties and follows applicable Sales and Cash Management procedures
• Processes inventory: Check Purchase Order against invoice, bar codes items, restocks and stores as appropriate.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, and work practices as described in the Occupational Exposure Control Plan
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Two (2) years customer service experience in a retail setting required
• Requires strong customer relations skills, accuracy and attention to detail with high levels of reliability.
• Ability to provide creative ideas and design skills
• Basic computer skills, ability to use computerized cash register and gallery related software.
• Ability to travel locally and regionally as assigned
• Valid Driver’s License
• Must be able to successfully pass criminal background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Northwest Coast Indian art, traditional form and techniques, and an ability to decipher quality in art. Is well versed in area of specialty and individual product knowledge preferred.
• Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Effective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrate initiative, work independently with little supervision
• American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply
