We are seeking a qualified Sales Account Manager to join this team and help us continue our mission of delivering a customer experience that thrills our customers and positions Silgan to be our customer’s first choice, every time.

As a Sales Account Manager, you will report to the Director of Sales for the distribution market. You will serve as the key contact for your assigned accounts and will be responsible for developing and executing strategies aimed at growing share of wallet, defending existing business, improving profitability, and deepening our relationship within your accounts. We are looking for someone who is a quick learner with strong negotiating skills, and the ability to showcase our offerings in a compelling way. Often tasked with giving presentations, attending trade shows, and entertaining customers, it’s essential that this person be personable and professional.

What can you expect in a Sales Account Manager role at Silgan Plastics?

  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders by understanding their focus and anticipating their needs
  • Responsible for the development and execution of strategic and robust account plans that deliver on budget attainment and profit improvement goals
  • Drive forecast accuracy for improved business results
  • Autonomy to plan and execute sales calls with minimum supervision
  • Directly controls time, effort and direction, account penetration, and customer relationships
  • Develop and leverage a deep understanding of Silgan Plastics, including but not limited to, our products and services, technology, as well as the competitive landscape, to position Silgan to be our customer’s preferred choice
  • Work cross functionally with marketing, pricing, customer service, quality, and operations teams to support new and existing business initiatives
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time

What are we looking for?

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of sales experience
  • Preferably in or around the consumer-packaged goods industry though not a requirement
  • Experience working effectively and efficiently in a remote environment
  • Proven track record of meeting and/or exceeding sales and business goals
  • Experience negotiating complex deals
  • Experience crafting strategic plans to grow share of wallet with existing customers as well as new account sales, including but not limited to, cold calling, outreach campaigns, and more.

  • Ability to learn complex technical information quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
