Job description

Develops, coordinates, monitors and manages the institution’s safety programs. Responsible for fire prevention, safety, health, hazardous material/communication, occupational safety regulations and sanitation. Major job elements consist of: institutional inspection program, employee fire and safety training, coordination with local, state and federal agencies on required reports. Maintains documentation as necessary to comply with department of corrections standards. Assist with pest control at the institution.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience related to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations. General knowledge of safety principles, techniques, laws and regulations. Demonstrated ability to develop and present institutional plans and programs. Ability to teach/train in a classroom setting. Experience preparing reports. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to efficiently delegate.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer previous experience working in adult corrections. Certification in OSHA, OSH or other local, state and federal safety programs. Prefer working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and GMail.

Special Requirements
