The position: As a Risk Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the company’s safety management. The Safety Manager will employ a variety of techniques regarding safety program administration. The Safety Manager position is located in the Austin, TX Corporate Office and is a full-time, permanent, exempt position in the Risk Management Department.
Responsibilities:
- Formulates, develops, and coordinates safety and loss control function of the organization.
- Designs and directs a program to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards through safety-training of supervisors and managers, planned inspections, skill training, first-aid care,
- emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, new employee orientation, physical protection, planned job observation, rules and practices, job analysis/procedures and protective equipment.
- Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises or at project site locations.
- Provides project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirm project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
- Responsible for identifying causes of past accidents.
- Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
- Assist in the loss control inspection of onboarding properties, as identified, for life safety issues and create inspection reports for each.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline preferred
- Minimum 8 years industry safety experience, including at least 4 years management level safety profession experience preferred
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and Industry Standards highly desirable
