Job Opening Summary
The Safety Associate Psych is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety of employees and individuals served by the inpatient Psychiatric Unit. The Safety Associate Psych assists inpatients with behavior management and interventions with individuals who may exhibit impairment due to a serious mental illness.
Job Opening Qualifications
Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education:
N/A
Required Licensure/Certifications:
Crisis Prevention Institute training within ninety (90) days, and then annually, is required for Psych Unit.
Preferred Licensure/Certifications:
BLS from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
Required Experience:
1-2 years patient care or security
Preferred Experience:
Security, de-escalation techniques, patient rounding, maintaining a safety environment, customer service
Necessary Skills:
1. Ability to complete, maintain and perform all required training including self-defense and de-escalation.
2. Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team.
3. Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
4. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions.
5. Ability to read/write in English.
