SafePlace Intake Coordinator

Unity Shelter, Inc. is a provider of basic needs support, emergency shelter, and transitional housing to those experiencing homelessness in Corvallis and Benton County. Creating a safe space for people to rest, recover, and connect with supportive services is central to our mission.

Position: SafePlace Intake Coordinator

Reports to: SafePlace Program Manager

Hours: 20 hrs, flexible schedule, some evening and weekend availability

Pay Rate: $17-20/hr DOE

Position Summary: This position continues contact with potential participants referred through the SafePlace Service Navigator, and maintains relationship throughout the move-in process. The SafePlace Intake Coordinator is the main point of contact for approved SafePlace participants. This position works closely with participants, staff, leadership, and community partners to plan for entry and sustainability in the SafePlace program.

Location: Multiple Locations

Position Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with SafePlace Service Navigator to ensure timely follow-up with potential participants
• Complete required intake paperwork and assessments
• Present possible SafePlace participants to intake committee
• Use Microsoft and Google applications to track, maintain, and contact potential participants
• Maintain organized files and paperwork of SafePlace related documentation
• Work independently and collaboratively with staff and community partners
• Ensure SafePlace documentation is uploaded, updated and accurate (code of conduct, ROI’s, photos, etc.) in Shelterware
• Coordinate custodial and maintenance work on vacant SafePlace units and program locks to prepare for new participants
• Conduct site visits at SafePlace locations with prospective participants
• Conduct move-ins with approved participants
• Meet regularly with SafePlace Service Navigator to ensure program efficacy

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Two years experience working in social service environment with direct service experience, preferred
• Any combination of education and experience which provides the required level of knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Ability to multitask and stay organized
• Ability to communicate openly and effectively with participants, staff, and community partners
• Experience using Microsoft and Google applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Consistent, time-conscious, reliable, friendly, appropriate communication style
• Experience inputting and maintaining accurate data in web-based databases
• Reliable transportation
• Knowledge of resources available in Corvallis, Benton County, and surrounding areas, preferred
• Knowledge and experience with Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Health First Aid, homelessness, cultural competence and cultural humility, preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
