Job description
The main purpose of the Shelter Housing supporter is to serve as a case manager for the shelter guests, connecting them with local community resources to fill both their immediate and future needs. The Shelter Housing supporter also supports daily functions of the shelter by coordinating volunteers, serving guests, and managing general operations. It is important that Shelter Housing supporter are compassionate and comfortable serving with diverse populations. They should also be excellent problems solvers and handle pressure well. The main purpose of the Crisis Prevention Recourses case manager is to provide families and individuals who are on the brink of homelessness with appropriate financial assistance towards past due rent, past due heating/electric bills, limited prescription assistance, gas vouchers for medical appointments, ID’s, driver license, and birth certificates. Crisis Prevention Recourses case manager also aide the grant writer with pertinent information needed to apply for grants to provide financial assistance. Crisis Prevention Recourses case managers provide resources directly to clients and do not provide referrals to other agencies.
Member Duties : Shelter - Lead new guests through intake process - Connect guest to medical, mental health, housing, education, transportation, and employment resources - Resolve conflicts between guests & community members - Fulfill guests’ immediate needs by preparing and serving meals, and aiding their hygiene needs Crisis Prevention Recourses- Determine client eligibility for utility assistance for San Luis Valley residents - Know organization requirements to meet the needs of clients who are requesting assistance from Friends of Man for dental, vision, hearing, and mobility needs - Supervise and maintain Crisis Intervention funds to provide prescription assistance, medical gas vouchers, and identifications for clients - Be knowledgeable of all paperwork necessary to complete rental assistance - Complete all paperwork according to each individual grant guideline, and document all case management services provided to clients.
