Purpose

Non-supervisory leadership position with direct responsibility for development, execution and management of all real estate and commercial lease programs within the Roanoke Tree Farm footprint located in North Carolina and Virginia.


Key Responsibilities
  • Overall
    • Provide leadership and be an active team member of both the Resources Real Estate and Roanoke Timberlands groups
    • Assigned execution of the below program components in alignment with objectives as developed in annual PE with the Director
  • Real Estate Program
    • Collaborator role developing both long-term tactical and strategic acquisition (ACQ) and higher and better use disposition/replacement (HBU) program goals and objectives
    • Lead role implementing the annual HBU and ACQ programs in coordination with Real Estate Director and Real Estate team
      • Execute targeted HBU transactions through broker or direct negotiation processes
      • Coordinate IRC 1031 accounts
      • Proactively seek high quality tactical ACQ opportunities through broker, neighbor, consultant and internal pathways and networks
      • Collaborator role with Director from time to time regarding targeted strategic ACQ opportunities
  • Commercial Lease Program
    • Lead role as local point of contact and Company Representative for all assigned solar option agreements and land use leases
    • Collaborator role with Director regarding new lease inquiry, negotiation and agreement execution

Required Qualifications
  • BS of Forest Management or related field
  • 10 years of land and timber ACQ and DISP experience. Thorough understanding of financial analysis tools and principles sufficient to develop land and timber appraisals and custom spreadsheets for internal decision making purposes
  • Strong interpersonal skills with analytical and problem solving ability
  • Highly organized with ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office and other company software including GIS

Preferred Qualifications
  • North Carolina and/or Virginia real estate brokers license
  • IRC 1031 replacement experience a plus.
