Road Driver

BASIC FUNCTION

Drive Baker Furniture owned diesel truck to transport and deliver luxury furniture to various designated locations in the West Coast region. Assisted touch freight and occasional pad wrap required.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Shipping Duties

• Strap unit as needed
• Cover unit with protective padding
• Assist with loading of truck
• Assist co-workers as needed
• Exercise care and follow the proper safety procedures to prevent injuries to themselves and their co-workers.
• Maintain tools and equipment and clean work area daily

Trucking Duties

• Read and be familiar with all customer orders, shipping receipts, purchase orders for each scheduled delivery or pick-up.
• Will drive truck to destination, always inspecting truck for defects before and after each trip; submitting a report as needed.
• Maintain driver logs according to I.C.C. regulations and complete bill of lading, way bills, inspections reports, driving log, trip report, container return reports and/or any other paperwork as required; always assuring accuracy of reporting.
• Assist with loading/unloading, collecting empty containers and products to be returned.
• Position requires lifting and unloading of trailer. With the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs. Also have the ability to check off and process paperwork and IST’s from HDC.
• Adhere to the guidelines established in the Baker Driver Manual.

Route Details
Typical route leaves Friday and/or Saturday from Hildebran, NC with drop offs on Monday/Tuesday in Southern CA.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School graduate preferred
• Maintain Class A CDL License, Clean Driving Record, Subject to Criminal Background / Drug Screen.
• 1 year Commercial driving experience is required and minimal (6 months) experience in the furniture industry would be helpful
• Fork lift truck certification
• Should be able to lift and move heavy furniture

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
