Job Description: Registered Nurse - 6 East Surgical Short Stay Unit

Currently only open to New Graduates (Must be open to work all shifts)

**The team at UNC Rex has developed a unique plan of care called the Road to Recovery that serves as a pathway to promote quality care in a safe efficient manner. The program has proven successful and was adopted by other units within the organization. They proudly presented the Road to Recovery program at a podium presentation at the National Magnet Conference in October 2019.

Shift/Hours:

· Day shift: 7:00am - 7:30pm

· Night shift: 7:00pm - 7:30am

· Weekends:
2 out of 6 weekends required - Saturday/Sunday

Holidays: RNs are assigned to a holiday track.

Call Requirement: None currently.

Responsibilities:

· Specialize in the care of the 24-hour stay surgical patient. The patient population is general surgery and post-interventional radiology recovery for renal biopsy recovery and uterine embolization.

· Patients in this unit may be recovering from many different types of surgery including but not limited to thyroidectomy, appendectomy, lumbar/cervical laminectomy, and hernia repair.

· Also care for the overflow medical patient population.

Pay Scale: $29.25

Must Haves:

License: NC RN License

Certifications: BLS

Experience: Currently only open to New Graduates

Education: Associates accepted; Must agree to enroll in BSN program within 4 years of being hired; Must complete BSN within 7 years.

Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6

Patient Population: Surgical Short Stay/Medicine Overflow

Other clinicians on staff: HUC, CNA, CST, TL
