SCOPE OF POSITION
The RN - Support will serve as a clinical resource for patients and non-nursing employees within Ballad, as well as provide clinical support to physicians during patient office visits. The RN will perform direct patient duties as well as indirect clinical functions, as described below. The RN will exercise a high level of clinical decision making especially in the area of cardiology. The RN will communicate on a daily basis with assigned provider to facilitate a smooth and efficient clinic. This individual will provide pre-visit chart abstraction of cardiac history/testing into concise summaries for physician reference, as well as to provide clinical support to physicians by assisting with patient education, and submitting orders for tests/ procedures, refilling medications, etc. The RN will receive and address messages from patients, referring physicians, or referring office staff, regarding medical issues/concerns. Additionally, the RN will appropriately triage symptomatic patient calls using sound clinical judgment and following protocols. The RN will contact providers immediately for urgent or critical patient issues and advises patients of physicians’ instructions. The RN will assess “walk-in” patients to determine urgency of symptoms and/or need for treatment or physician assessment. The RN will refill cardiac medications as per written protocol. In addition, the RN will screen and address results of testing ordered by providers, and consult with providers as appropriate. The RN will monitor physician schedules for appropriateness of appointments, and communicate with referring offices to determine urgency of appointment requests. The RN will serve as a clinical resource for clerical staff, LPNs, and PCTs. The RN will assist with clinical portion of return to work, disability, and FMLA forms. The RN will respond during office emergencies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing program. Knowledge of cardiac conditions, treatments, procedures and medications required. Three to five years cardiac nursing experience preferred. Office experience helpful. Basic to intermediate computer skills required. Ability to competently navigate EHR. Demonstration of ability to work closely, competently, and professionally with patients, physicians, other staff members, and external personnel required. Sound clinical judgment and initiative, with ability to work and make clinical decisions with little direct supervision required.

Valid and active RN licensure in appropriate state
CPR required
ACLS required
