The Patient Safety Liaison manages the patient grievance initiative and processes for Sibley Memorial Hospital. Meets with patients and/or families or reviews written communication provided that alleges breaches in the quality of care that are reported upon discharge or not resolved during admission. Takes steps to resolve identified issues and includes appropriate stakeholders and leadership in service recovery and resolution efforts. Provides empathy and advocacy to all patients/families.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required, Master’s degree preferred in clinical profession of relevance with a minimum of one (1) year experience in customer service or patient relations required,
  • Demonstrated experience in mediation and conflict resolution preferred.
  • Nursing experience required and experience with Epic preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years hospital-based experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience working in Quality Improvement, Regulatory Compliance and/or Patient Safety preferred.
  • Preferred Lean Greenbelt or higher. Trained in design-thinking, Human Factors, and/or CUSP methodologies preferred. Higher degree, if required by professional licensing board in clinical profession.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • RN License required
  • Preferred certification within 2 years in:
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or
  • Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) or
  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)
