Position Purpose

This position has overall responsibility for the processes that generate charges for all appropriate billable services and materials within physician services. Position will evaluate documentation production as well as charge production for related services to ensure: Accurate, compliant and timely billing; proper documentation; and maximum reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities

Provides excellent customer service and adheres to the Behavioral Expectations Agreement. • Exhibits courtesy, cooperation and respect toward patients, visitors, physicians, supervisor, and coworkers in regard to all personal and telephonic interactions. • Demonstrates enthusiasm and self-motivation in performing job duties • Consistently follows KHI policies and procedures • Attends departmental meetings. • Informs Manager of patterns that are of concern that effect reimbursement and recommend in-service training. • Manages the charge master for physician’s services both building of new charges and governmental updates of CPT/HCPC codes. • Review Denials/Audits issues and work with staff in the resolution of account or process concerns • Provides effective reports to management such as incomplete physician documentation, no physician signatures to ensure charts are completed in a timely manner • Works collaboratively with PFS, Revenue Cycle Systems, Clinical Nurse Auditors, physician services coders and Physician Services Directors.

Qualifications

  • Education
    : High school diploma or GED equivalent or college level degree
  • Experience: Experience in healthcare billing/coding of 2 years or more


Knowledge and Skills: • General knowledge of coding, billing, and reimbursement • Strong written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of Medical Terminology • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task • Strong computer skills including Excel and the ability to interact positively with the public • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems, coordinate staff, demonstrate results, develop reports, and manages within an emerging field.

Ability to sit for six (6) to seven (7) hours daily at a computer terminal • Ability to use computer keyboard • Occasionally lifts and carries 11 to 5 pounds of files • Telephone and face to face public and employee contact is frequent and must be able to deal calmly with them when contacted for assistance
