ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma (or G.E.D. equivalent).

One to two years of pharmacy clerk experience (retail pharmacy) desirable.

Ability to perform inventory control and clerical tasks.

Typing - 30 wpm minimum.

Legible handwriting and/or printing.

Numerical comprehension and mathematical skills.

Ability to communicate verbally, comprehend verbal instructions, and have good telephone etiquette.

Good vision, manual dexterity, and physical ability to stand the majority of the time.

Experience with computers, cash registers desirable.

Basic knowledge of medications, medical nomenclature, physician's prescription orders, and third party billing systems desired.


ORGANIZATION
Under the direct supervision of the on-duty pharmacist and general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager/Coordinator.

Cooperates during daily contacts with other health professionals.

POPULATIONS SERVED COMPETENCIES, INCLUDING AGE OF PATIENTS SERVED
No direct clinical contact with patients.


SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Healthcare.

  • Promotes personal and patient safety.
  • Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.
  • Answers phone calls with good ESP skills, takes messages, and refers phone calls when appropriate.
  • Maintains files and records in good order.
  • Rotates and restocks inventory; checks for and removes outdated or damaged merchandise and returns to vendor.
  • Performs general housekeeping continually to maintain a neat, clean, professional-appearing environment.
  • Performs secretarial duties as requested.
  • Performs counter/cash register duties.
  • Assists in the ordering of merchandise/drug products including unpacking and storage.
  • Participates in annual inventories as requested.
  • Performs account reconciliation as necessary. Generates bills and records receipts of payment for merchandise sold.
  • Participates in education with regard to Corporate Compliance and Fraud, Abuse and Waste avoidance as assigned. Applies and practices principles regarding the same in daily tasks within the Pharmacy. Reports promptly to supervisor, or other appropriate employee, any suspected instances of fraud, abuse and waste.
  • Attends required continuing education programs and mandated inservice/education.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
