JOB TITLE: Residential Counselor

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Many Availabilities: Full-time (40hrs/wk), Part-Time (16hrs/wk), and Per-Diem

SCHEDULED HOURS: Many Availabilities: Weekdays, Weekends, Mornings, Evenings, Overnights

PROGRAM/LOCATION: Alden House, Brook House, Northfield, Respite; Enfield, CT

OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

To provide community-based recovery support services, skill building activities, and educational opportunities for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and/or with dual diagnosis to increase independence in the community.

By:

  • Providing a comprehensive array of skill-building activities focused on building and maintaining a therapeutic relationship with the client.
  • Facilitating connections to the individual’s recovery supports.
  • Emphasizing the individual’s choices, goals, and recovery path.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains physical environment and program standards to CHR, DMHAS, JCAHO and any other licensing standard
  • Monitors medications of all residents in accordance with the Adult residential medication policy and procedure.
  • Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to transfer information to other staff regarding the day’s events
  • Teaches and assists all residents in areas of rehab including: nutrition and healthy living, meal preparation, hygiene, laundry, banking and budgeting, and basic home care skills.
  • Assists/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor
  • Prepares and facilitates educational and skill building groups and one to one interventions as directed by the treatment plan.
  • Collaborates and coordinate care with providers and families as needed.
  • Assists residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associates degree or 2 years of college with minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Experience: Experience working with chronic and persistent mentally ill clients in a residential group home or supported living setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR/First-Aid Certification within 6 months of hire or according to program requirements. Valid driver’s license, own vehicle and no fault insurance. Knowledge and safe practice of CT State Motor Vehicle Laws.

COMPENSATION*:

$17.00 min.- $24.48 max. (Part-Time/Full-Time)

*Actual rates are determined at the time of offer and are based off of relevant experience, as well as adherence to our internal equity policy. Many of our positions offer program/location differentials and/or sign-on incentives. (Please note, for part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked)

$15.25 (Per-Diem)

*Our per diem and fee for service positions offer a flat hourly rate.
