The BIOS Clinical Trials Coordinating Center (BIOS CTCC) is seeking a Research Cle rk to work during the summer. The Research Clerk position is for an individual interested in research. BIOS CTCC is a clinical trial coordinating center (data management center, imaging reading center, and enrollment center) within the Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, Department of Neurology.

The Research Clerk will be trained in daily operations of a research coordinating center in the domains of project management, imaging, data management, finance, regulatory, site management, cIRB, and administrative duties.

The BIOS Clinical Trials Coordinating Center clerkship program is tailored to allow students to choose one or several domains (project management, imaging, data management, finance, regulatory, site management, cIRB, administrative). The curriculum is developed to give an intensive overview of each domain with pathways based on individual interests. At the end of the curriculum, the student will develop a final project and present it to the division.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Maintain research files.
Develop knowledge of all aspects of a research protocol.

Coordinate and participate in study meetings including the preparation of agendas and meeting minutes.

Understand how protocols are used to build research budgets.

Develop an understanding of basic database design for collecting data on human subjects.

Develop understanding of IRB process including submission, change in research, continuing review, etc.

Assist with data analysis and project competition.

Organization of CT scans for analysis, tracking site queries for quality assurance, generating simple reports, related image analysis, and preparation of presentations for weekly reporting of tasks.

Develop knowledge of content and format of scientific publications.

Develop knowledge of image readers role and their duties of image (interpretation, processing, segmentation, and data entry) and assist readers after completion of the BIOS NeuroImaging Center (BIONIC) comprehensive training program.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
Some related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Some experience working in a research laboratory, outside of undergrad coursework.
Some experience with managing records, sensitive information, research activities or related experience
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience communicating using Zoom, Teams, etc.
Some experience working with Microsoft Access or other similar database management programs is a plus.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
