Overview:The Research Financial Analyst I provides financial and administrative support in Post-Award management of sponsored awards, grants and contracts within the Research Finance Office (RFO). Processes journal entries, reviews sponsored agreements, builds billing grids and creates invoices.

After initial training/orientation, this role is offered as a hybrid work option if desired.

Responsibilities:

• Is actively involved with the creation of billing grids and assists with the financial review of clinical trial data.
• Works extensively with the research coordinators to ensure the timely collection of billable clinical trial data. Records the clinic trail revenue based on the sponsor agreement.
• Works with RFO staff and management to review, data-enter and create new cost centers for awards, grants and contracts as they are awarded by sponsored agencies.
• Assists staff and management in reviewing and processing budget adjustments and carry forward requests related to existing sponsored awards, grants and contracts.
• Monitors all cash, checks and wires in a timely manner for receipt and deposit on sponsored awards, grants and contracts to ensure batch postings of same and accuracy of same.
• Prepares various monthly financial reports for the office of sponsored research team (OSR)
• Assists the time and effort certification process for salary and non-salary employees.
• Maintains all documents related to the receipt and deposit of all sponsored funds. Ensures these records are available to fellow RFO staff and Research Team personnel as these documents are audited annually as part of the annual A-133 audit.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures internally and externally
• Standard month end close accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Maintains the integrity of the accounting systems, reconciling data and identifying systems errors as they arise.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field
• 1-2 years of research accounting experience preferred
• Not-for- Profit or Experience in Research institution environment a plus.
• Infor –Lawson and Cayuse software experience a
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including but not limited to: Excel, Word.
• Experience with databases, key data extraction and summarizing information.
• An understanding of accounting principles.
• Skilled at problem solving.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize assignments to complete work in timely manner when there are changes in workload and pressures of deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
