Research Assistant in Forensic Mental Health/Psychology

Full Time
Manchester M13

Job description

This post provides an opportunity to contribute the evaluation of access assessments for admission to adult medium and low secure services. At the moment we do not know whether these assessments are being managed in the same way across services in England and Wales. We also do not know what the experience of the assessment process is like for; 1) patients who are assessed, 2) clinicians who make referrals to the service, and 3) clinicians who do the assessments. We will use a mixed-method approach to investigate the access assessment process in detail. We hope that the findings from this research will help clinicians to make better decisions about people who are assessed for admission to secure services.

The project has been funded by the NIHR and the successful applicant will be based in the Centre for Mental Health and Safety http://research.bmh.manchester.ac.uk/cmhs/ and will work with a small team of researchers and clinicians, and a wider team of multidisciplinary experts. This full-time post is available from 1st November until 28th August 2023, or a part-time appointment for a longer duration will be considered.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
