We are seeking a Research Assistant who supports faculty work associated with the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Educations department of counseling and educational studies. This role requires the ability to review empirical research and write reviews of literature to support grant applications and in dissemination activities. The Research Assistant may work up to 10 hours per week.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct scholarly literature searches to support research initiatives.
Engage in writing annotated bibliographies.
Conduct content and/or meta-analysis about therapeutic effectiveness in China.
Write reports and correspondence.
Communicate on a regular basis with supervisor with respect to the implementation of job initiatives.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Experience in conducting searches of peer-reviewed empirical research in topics related to research opportunities.
Experience in synthesizing research studies and writing reviews of literature.
Experience in working with faculty in research and teaching duties.
Excellent computer skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with educational practitioners and other groups associated with education.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse constituencies via phone, email, and in-person.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and assignments to meet deadlines.
Ability and motivation to effectively work both autonomously and collaboratively.
Excellent work ethics and habits.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters or Doctoral Degree preferred in related field.
Knowledge and experience in conducting therapy in China.
Research experience in qualitative and quantitative studies.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
