Reporting to the Research & Analytics Manager, the Research Assistant provides support for various data related reporting functions for the Catto Scholarship program. This position assists the Manager in the design of data systems used for research and analytical purposes for the Catto Scholarship Office, including specialized databases to track Catto interventions, initiatives, and outcomes. The Research Assistant also assists in the creation of data related presentations and visualizations to effectively share findings with Catto staff, College leadership, and external stakeholders. #ID23

Specific Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design of data systems used for research and analytical purposes for the Catto Scholarship Office, including specialized databases to track Catto interventions, initiatives, and outcomes.


  • Assist in the creation of data related presentations and visualizations to effectively share findings with Catto staff, College leadership, and the Mayor’s Office of Education.

  • Track the status of all Catto scholars at the cohort level.

  • Monitor the progression of Catto scholars that joined the program as Dual enrollment students.

  • Participate in the production of reports that will satisfy requests for information about the Catto Scholarship in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Collaborate with Catto staff to provide analyses of institutional data to support the operational, decision-making, and planning functions of the program.

  • Maintain selected databases and documents.

  • Participate in internal and external surveys as needed.

  • Consult with others in designing methodology for research projects.

  • Ensure confidentiality of students’ records and information.

  • Maintain service that is inclusive and that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diversity of the College community.

  • Deliver quality customer service to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.

  • Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree or equivalent coursework in computer science, data analytics, statistics or related field required. Any and all degree(s) must be from a recognized institutional accreditor.


  • At least one (1) year of work experience in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting required.

  • Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, or related functionality required.

  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research and findings required.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail required.

  • Experience successfully working independently as well as part of a team with collaborative approach to problem solving required.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment required.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds by effectively using cross-cultural skills and abilities required.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with software such as Ellucian Banner, Qualtrics, Starfish is preferred.


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, statistics or related field preferred.
