We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure Services team. The ideal candidate must have 3+ years of IT Enterprise experience with an emphasis on working with networking hardware including Cisco hardware. Must have strong communication skills (both written and verbal) who can work both independently and work well within a team.

This position is full-time 100% REMOTE that can work anywhere in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States or work out of one of our Eastern locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware, performance, utilization, patching, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs for the TRC network
  • Coordinates new, replacement and/or installation of hardware with third party partners
  • Configures hardware in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Design and deploy functional networks
  • Manages and maintains APC UPS environment for TRC network
  • Escalation point for troubleshooting of network and system performance issues utilizing internal tools and third party vendors when appropriate
  • Enhances efficiencies by implementing tools and scripts
  • Assists in planning and deployment of disaster recovery procedures
  • Maintains documentation and diagrams including SOP and ISO standards
  • Understanding of SDWAN Networks, including Azure/AWS connectors
  • Strong networking background
  • Understanding of Windows server technologies, including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Other duties include but are not limited to:
    • Coordinating supporting requirements as it relates to office moves and expansions
    • Provides end user support via remote assistance and or telephone
    • Member of an On-Call engineer rotation (once every eight weeks)
Requirements:

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 3+ or more years of IT Enterprise experience with an emphasis on working with networking hardware
  • Comprehensive understanding of the following subject matter areas:
    • Cisco hardware (Switches/ASA/FirePower Firewalls) TCP/IP protocols
    • Networking and related technologies TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and SDWAN
    • Understanding of communication protocols and routing protocols
    • Access control models and network security
    • Networking Operating Systems (Cisco IOS, Meraki)
    • Windows Operating Systems (Windows 2012-2022, Microsoft Hyper-V)
  • General understanding of the following subject matter areas:
    • Silver Peak SDWAN systems
    • Network load balancing (A10 Networks)
    • Network monitoring tools (PRTG, WhatsUp Gold)
    • ISO 27001
  • Commitment to continual development of technical skillsets and knowledge sharing
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-resolution skills
  • Work independently, self-directed, and self-motivated
  • Travel may be required
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed in event of projects or emergencies

EDUCATION/SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • The following are preferred but not required:
    • Cisco CCNA
    • ITIL
  • Cloud (Azure/AWS) a plus
  • Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate a plus
