We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Registered Nurse-Post Anesthesia Care Unit to join the Mountainside Team!


Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

The Registered Nurse—Post Anesthesia Care Unit will provide care for post-operative patients recovering from anesthesia, including general, regional, and local.
The successful candidate will be able to:
  • Coordinate all nursing care for patients recovering from an invasive procedure or surgery who has received general anesthesia, deep sedation and in some cases local anesthesia
  • Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes while maintaining a family centered experience
  • Collect patient’s health data
  • Analyze assessment data in determining patient problems
  • Develop a comprehensive plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes
  • Implement interventions identified in the plan of care
  • Evaluate patient’s progress toward attainment of outcomes and preparation for discharge from the PACU to either Phase 2 Recovery or hospital inpatient unit
  • Assist with the plan of care, evaluate, modify and coordinate care, and communicate well with other disciplines
  • Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with the Board of Nursing
  • Maintain confidentiality with all information
  • Contribute to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum of 1+ years’ experience as an RN in a hospital PACU or Critical Care Unit
  • Current valid NJ State professional Registered Nurse license
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS (obtainable within the first three months of employment)
  • PALS (obtainable within the first three months of employment)
  • Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia Training
  • Ability to initiate IV therapy, blood specimen collection, point of care testing, perform EKG, phlebotomy (skills obtainable within the first three months of employment)
  • Ability to manage a patient’s airway including us of mechanical ventilation.
  • Ability to multi-task, reacting to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current computer systems, equipment or programs used in the organization, knowledge of Epic a plus
