Job description
Mower County Health and Human Services is currently hiring a full-time (40 hours per week) Registered Nurse or Public Health Nurse. $31.9818 - $35.7130 (RN)/$33.7048 - $37.6370 (PHN) per hour. This is a full-time union position that typically works Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Mower County provides 12 Paid Holidays and a minimum of 20 Days Paid Time Off per year as well as an excellent benefit package for full-time positions. 100% Employer Paid single health insurance.
The successful RN candidate responsibilities may include performing nursing services; coordinating with healthcare providers, community groups, and other parties; providing healthcare education; and preparing reports and other applicable documents.
The successful PHN candidate responsibilities may include developing, implementing and maintaining health programs and initiatives; managing medical records and related systems; providing health education for students, families, and employees; conducting home visits to deliver and monitor health treatments; conducting health evaluations; and monitoring client progress.

- Provides skilled nursing care and prescribed medical treatment to patients and demonstrates care to patients, families, practical nurses, and aides.
- Identifies, observes, reports and records symptoms and conditions of patients.
- Assists as a team member in the development of nursing care plans.
- Gives medically ordered immunizations, tuberculin tests, treatment and medication.
- Assists with medical examination, takes histories, and performs screening and recording activities at clinic and schools.
- May give directions and assignments to licensed practical nurses and/or home health aides.
- Helps explain agency services and policies to persons receiving service and to other persons with whom she works.
- Gives general information to the public about the local public health agency and its services.
- Attends staff meetings and participates in continuing educational programs.
Minnesota Merit System Minimum Qualifications - Registered Nurse: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota in the State of Minnesota.
Minnesota Merit System Minimum Qualifications - Public Health Nurse: Certification as a Public Health Nurse in Minnesota and current licensure as a registered nurse in Minnesota.
Mower County RN Preferred Qualifications
RN Requirements include: an Associate’s Degree in Nursing or related field, 1 year related experience. Registered Nurse License and valid driver’s license. Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Applicants fluent in a second language are encouraged to apply.
Mower County PHN Preferred Qualifications
PHN Requirements include: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field; 1-year related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Public Health Certification and valid driver’s license.
The examination will consist entirely of a rating of education and experience.
