SUMMARY
Provide support, understanding, and vision during the process of acquiring and placing applicants to meet the staffing needs of the company. Attracting talent with a focus on government contracting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:

  • Oversees recruiting efforts, including, but not limited to, advertising, employment fairs, partnerships, correspondence with applicants, and other forms of organizational marketing as related to recruiting.
  • Administers pre-employment screenings, including, but not limited to, background checks, reference checks, drug testing, and educational verification.
  • Conducts searches for qualified candidates through networking, referral ads, internet, and other online sources.
  • Creates and maintains written recruiting plans, tracking and documenting the process in order to handle the recruiting volume and easily provide current information to hiring managers.
  • Directs source candidates through networking and referrals.
  • Partners with hiring managers to understand their business needs and hiring criteria, developing a comprehensive recruiting strategy based on the needs.
  • Acts as a recruiting liaison with colleges and vocational schools.
  • Researches various geographic markets to identify recruiting and staffing trends, making strategic staffing recommendations as needed based on findings.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of current trends as related to recruiting, regulations, and industry.
  • Conducts phone screens and interviews for applicants.
  • Schedules and coordinates interviews for managers.
  • Negotiates salaries based upon market pay levels for candidates' work experience and skill-sets.
  • Ensures that all necessary documents are complete and present prior to on-boarding.
  • Ensures that hiring criteria for open positions are met while upholding the Native American preference or EEO/AA, whichever is applicable for the open position being filled.
  • Partners with Cherokee Nation for special projects and recruitment initiatives.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
Manage multiple projects without having direct supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, human resources, or other related field and 3 to 5 years of recruiting experience or an equivalent combination of formal education and recruiting experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with social media recruitment methods including a strong presence on LinkedIn.
  • Working knowledge of Monster, CareerBuilder, Indeed, and other related job boards.
  • Excellent written, communication, and computer skills including working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
  • Detail-oriented and well organized.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and participate as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have the ability to successfully pass a drug screen and a Federal Background check as a condition of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting. Occasional travel and overnight stay may be required.
Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates COVID vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.
