Family and Community Services is recruiting an individual with exceptional customer service skills for a Technical Records Specialist 1 position. The position is located at our Pocatello office. This is a benefits eligible temporary position working 40 hours a week with an opportunity to become permanent. This administrative support staff position requires attention to detail, exemplary customer service and organization skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

The ideal candidates must be personable and professional with excellent customer service skills, be detail-oriented and self-motivated, and have the desire to work in a team environment.

Temporary positions are limited to working 1,385 hours in a 12-month period for any one state agency.

Temporary appointments from this announcement, serving at least one thousand forty (1,040) hours of continuous service, may be hired as an entrance probationary employee without further examination for the same classification and location as announced.

Employees are eligible for benefits if they work twenty (20) hours or more per week and the term of employment is expected to exceed five (5) continuous months.

Example of Duties

  • Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries.
  • Perform specialized support work that involves an in-depth knowledge of the program.
  • Provide general administrative support to child welfare social workers.
  • Provide front desk and phone coverage.
  • Review, evaluate, approve, and process records and/or documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

You must possess all the minimum qualifications listed below to pass the exam for this position.   • Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors.
  • Experience researching a variety of sources to resolve problems.
  • Experience interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments.
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) products at an intermediate or advanced level.
    Gained by at least one year of experience where these products were used daily as part of job requirements.
