Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.


UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provided enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.


This is a long-term assignment with a 9/80s or 4/10s Shift Schedule (shift scheduled is determined on business needs). The 9/80s work hours are from 7:00 am- 4:30 pm, Monday-Thursday and 7:00 am - 3:30 pm every other Friday. The 4/10s work hours are 7:00 am-5:30 pm Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday. This position may require additional overtime hours as deemed necessary.


Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.


Position Summary:


The Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) is looking for a Warehouse Assistant at the Oak Ridge, TN location. This position will report to and receive operational direction from the Materials Manager, or designated personnel. Performs functions of project site materials management, including, kick & count, receipt, storage and issue of project materials, consumables, and equipment; documentation and data entry, inventory and material control in the warehouse, lay down yards, and jobsite locations.


Responsibilities:


A. Supervision Received

  • Reports to and receives operational direction from the project Material Manager
  • Receives functional direction from global business unit Project Field Procurement Manager.

C. Contacts

  • Maintains direct working relationship with assigned personnel in the process of receipt, storage, custody, and issuance of project materials.
  • Maintains direct working relationship with carriers and vendors concerning the receipt and delivery of project materials.


Principle responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Performs kick and count and initial inspection of arriving material at satellite warehouse location, ensures receipt documentation is recorded in BPS.
  • Identifies materials for withdrawal from warehouse and lay down yards to site operations with proper control and documents in accordance with project procedures.
  • Ensure that project approved marking and identification procedures are followed for all materials, tools, and equipment received at the warehouse and lay down yards.
  • Takes part in the disposition of surplus project materials as approved by project management.
  • Reviews preparation of shipping documents and registers for materials shipped from temporary operating and jobsite locations.
  • Performs material inventories.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Material Manager.


Basic Qualifications:


  • High school diploma/GED and 3 years of experience
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment, education and travel.
  • Must be able to obtain site security badge for access to work site.
  • Must have the right to work and remain in the U.S. without Sponsorship.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Working knowledge of material storage and handling, documentation, and inventory control practices.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of BPS (Bechtel Procurement System) or standard industry supply chain automation systems
