The primary purpose of a Receiver is to ensure the proper receiving of product by following established practices and procedures. Responsible for maintaining standard practice of product rotation and temperature maintenance.

• Is expected to receive, inventory, lift, move, store, count and sort products being delivered

• Protects company assets through proper and accurate receipt and return of product
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments
• Demonstrates proper, established receiving practices and procedures
• Ensures proper dating all received goods by using the “First In/First Out” (FIFO) method of rotation of food for the purpose of safeguarding product freshness
• Understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety practices and procedures
• Observes and correct all conditions that could cause unsafe food related concerns
• Ensures physical safety through proper methods of lifting
• Maintains Life Safety Standards storing nothing less than 18 inches from the ceiling
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas
• May work in and have exposure to cold temperatures
• May be expected to participate in the taking of week end and month end inventory.
• Reports defective or malfunctioning equipment immediately to department management
• Is able to follow verbal or written instructions.
• Participates in and attends all department in-services to maintain department operating standards
• Is able to push or pull objects with moderate effort frequently and maximum effort occasionally.
• Is able to properly lift objects weighing 20 pounds or less, 35 pounds or less occasionally and 50 pounds or less rarely.
• Is able to stand for 4 hours continuously, up to 8 hours per day and remain on feet for entire shift.
• Is able to manipulate small objects with close eye-hand and/or arm coordination for entire shift. Is able to perform motor skills such as grasping, finger manipulation, bending, reaching out, twisting, turning, reaching up and wrist turning continuously.

• Ability to read and communicate in the English language.
• High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food service experience is not required, but is preferred. Interpersonal communication skills are required.
