Rec Leader - Sports Tourism / Athletics
Job description
Responsible for the supervision of athletic and sports tourism related events sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department that take place at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex, Central Park Sports Complex, J. Bryan Floyd Community Center and other city facilities. Responsible for overseeing each facility including but not limited to: opening and closing each facility, setting up for youth and adult sports practices/games, coordinating with event organizer/staff, coordinating with Parks Division, maintaining facility cleanliness, promoting customer service, maintaining safety of participants and spectators, rendering first aid in cases of minor injuries and other assigned duties. Position requires weekday, weeknight, and weekend work. Reports to the Athletic Director and Sports Tourism Director or his designated appointee.
High school graduate or equivalent, preferably supplemented by college level coursework in recreation, education or physical education. Some experience in supervising team and/or individual sports and other recreational activities. One year of combined customer service experience desirable. Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be physically able to operate an automobile, recreational vehicles such as a golf cart, various small hand tools, public address equipment, and a variety of automated office machines which includes a computer, copier, printers, fax machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to forty pounds.
