New York Life Real Estate Investors (“NYL REI”) is the real estate investment management division of New York Life Investments. NYL REI manages a portfolio in excess of $60 Billion which includes real estate debt, real estate equities and real estate securities. The equity portfolio includes assets held in New York Life’s general account, separate accounts, an open-end core fund, closed end value add funds, and co-investments with REIT vehicles. We are seeking a senior professional responsible for financial and investor accounting and reporting for the real estate portfolio.


This opportunity requires developing an in-depth knowledge of the third-party service industry and excellent communication and technical ability. Responsible for ensuring the financial integrity and timely reporting of our Investor reporting. Individual will coordinate with Portfolio and Asset Management and with New York Life internal accounting and audit teams.


Responsibilities
:

  • Provide high touch client service
  • Prepare and respond to investor capital call, distributions and investor requests.
  • Assist investors and colleagues with complex questions related to investors’ capital statements, capital calls/distributions.
  • Evaluate and develop investor operations process improvements and document procedures accordingly.
  • Serve as project lead on special projects and support with ad hoc requests.
  • Ensure and support that new programs and investors are “onboarded” and “offboarded” accordingly.
  • Process and review investor capital activity documents and follow up for missing information.
  • Provide an additional point of contact between accounting, portfolio managers, and outside client service teams.
  • Oversee anti-money laundering checks and review investors due diligence and KYC documents
  • Serve as the main point of contact for multiple funds partnering with Investor Services/Marketing/Portfolio Management
  • Monitor money movement associated with capital activity
  • Coordinate reports, communications and statements, to be delivered to investors and clients by client service team
  • Communicate with internal teams, fund managers, investors, custodians, and auditors
  • Responsible for the distribution of K-1s and audited financial statements, answer auditor questions, and process audit confirmations
  • Assist with compiling and reporting for investor and investment performance, capital balances, commitments, expense allocations and investor specific requirements
  • Assist in business development initiatives
  • Ability to review and understand offering documents, such as LPA and PPM
  • Ability and comfortable with recommending process improvements, including technology
  • Responsible for maintaining documents, investor information according to policy.


Requirements:

  • 3+ years of accounting/finance/investor and third-party client operations experience
  • Process driven, detail orientated and well organized
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience with investor capital call, distributions and investor requests.
  • Experience with financial, investor and performance reporting
  • Experience with real estate
  • Yardi experience and ability to use multiple reporting platforms/systems a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree, accounting major preferred
  • Ability to evaluate, document, and implement best in class policies and procedures
  • An advanced degree or CPA designation preferred
  • Experience working with an Investment Advisor a plus

Salary range:
$90,000-$135,000

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No
