Job description
Under the direction of the Radiology Manager and the technical direction of the Radiologist, administers roentgen rays in the performance of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures by attending physicians. Operates radiation-producing equipment, while utilizing proper radiation protection principles. Prepare patients exam rooms, equipment, supplies and medications. Processes exposed radiographic films, performs general office duties, and provides patient services using imaging modalities. Initiates life support measures when required. Adheres to the mission and values of Hawarden Regional Healthcare in all aspects of job performance
Qualifications
- Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible and registered by the state.
- Prior radiology experience preferred.
- Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Is able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team.
- Is able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change.
Physical Requirements
- Must successfully pass pre-employment physical examination, drug screening, and must adhere to applicable organizational requirements on an annual basis for Employee Health Directives.
- Primarily works inside with frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending and occasional lifting of supplies.
- Uses appropriate safety transfer techniques and body mechanics when moving, transporting, etc., of patients or equipment, sometimes in excess of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to function under frequent stressful situations.
- Must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to environmental elements, such as inclement weather, dust, noise, chemicals and/or chemical fumes, and infectious disease.
- Regular and physical attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
