Title: Radiation Therapist **$15,000 Sign-On Bonus & Relocation Assistance Available**
Location: near Grangeville, Idaho

Below are the details of the position:

The Radiation Therapist is an ARRT Registered Therapist who is responsible for the administration of radiation therapy as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. The Therapist will have to interact with a variety of people including, but not limited to patients with cancer, physicians, nurses, patient's family, and co-workers. Therapist must possess good interpersonal communication skills.

The disease of cancer may strike any age group necessitating that this position be involved in the care of all age groups from newborns through geriatrics.

PRIMARY (ESSENTIAL) DUTIES

1. Help ease patient's fear and apprehension about radiation therapy.

2. Set up patients properly for accurate delivery of radiation treatment. Explain to patient what to expect during treatment and what the patient can do to make sure treatment is carried out accurately.

3. Responsible for daily warm-up of treatment machine. This includes entering information in the warm-up log book. Any variations from parameters set by physicist should be reported to the Senior Therapist.

4. Responsible to check simulator for proper operation. Any problem that would interfere with proper operation should be reported to the Chief Radiation Therapist. All checks done should be properly entered on the simulator warm-up log.

5. Properly position patient for simulation of treatment area using immobilization devices as necessary to ensure proper position of patient. Explain to the patient what to expect during simulation and how the patient can help to make the process go smoothly and correctly.

6. Produce acceptable radiographs for simulation.

7. Tattoo the patient's treatment area safely when applicable.

8. Photograph the patient's treatment area & face to be placed in the patient's chart.

9. Maintains audio and visual contact with patients at all times.

10. Schedule the patient for daily treatment.

11. Make sure the patient's marks are maintained during the course of treatment.

12. Explain to the patient what adverse reactions might occur during treatment course. Notify the RN or Radiation Oncologist of patient's adverse reaction when necessary.

13. Make sure Radiation Oncologist sees the patient at least once a week during treatment course.

14. Verify weekly weight check.

15. Perform portal localization films once a week or as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.

16. Do weekly chart checks to make sure prescription is being followed. Make sure all addition is correct, photos are placed in chart, positive pathology report is in chart, consents are signed and placed in the chart, and the History and Physical is done.

17. Make sure linen is stocked and if not, call Linen Services to have needed supply delivered.

18. Keep treatment and simulation rooms neat, orderly and stocked with the necessary supplies. Inform Chief Radiation Therapist of items that need to be ordered.

19. Participates in performance improvement activities.

Must Haves:

Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as a Radiation Therapist

Must have knowledge of department functions, how and why radiation therapy is used, and be able to explain this to nurses, physicians, Medical Center staff, and the public

Continuing education as prescribed by JCAHO, and A.R.R.T.

Salary range: $68,000 - $90,000. Also, $5,000 Sign-on and Relocation.
