Position Overview

The R&D Process Engineer ensures the proper application of engineering practices, procedures, and criteria while making certain the project goals of cost, quality and timeliness are met. The R&D Process Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing new products or processes as well as improving current existing ones. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all products meet customer needs, are of high quality, and are cost-effective. The R&D Process Engineer coordinates the flow of information between sales/marketing and operations team to develop accurate proposal documentation, project timelines and implementation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Verify all finished goods are compliant with product and internal quality standards
  • Identify manufacturing deficiencies and determine root causes
  • Oversee and track corrective action processes
  • Perform failure testing on defective products & review on-going production data
  • Proactively identify and initiate opportunities to improve product and packaging performance, reduce cost, increase material utilization, integrate new products/processes into production and reduce variation.
  • Implement necessary changes and update all internal documentation.
  • Collect, review, and present equipment reliability results and performance data to determine optimal equipment set-up to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Manage projects through design review process from project scope charters through successful startup.
  • Working with the plant operational teams on providing training, writing appropriate standard operating procedures, as well as maintenance training plans & parts.
  • Become knowledgeable in Plant operation procedures in order to distinguish areas for development
  • Work effectively as a team member by communicating clearly and efficiently to provide innovative solutions
  • Actively continue personal development/improvement initiatives that align with business objectives and job functions to provide increased contributions.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or acceptable technical program. Candidates holding degrees in non-science related disciplines with substantial experiences in quality, manufacturing and project management may also be considered
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing role
  • Basic metallurgy, plastics and extrusion knowledge
  • Knowledge of industry specific regulatory standards (ASTM, ISO, UL, NEC, etc.)
  • Strong problem solving proficiencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
