AIB is the state’s largest employer of persons who are blind or have significant disabilities. AIB has a manufacturing facility in Talladega, AL and Birmingham, AL. AIB also operates five Base Supply Centers in two states which are located on Redstone Arsenal, Fort Rucker, Anniston Army Depot, Robins AFB and Moody AFB.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Supervisor of Screen Print and Embroidery role will be responsible for supervision of all responsibilities related to the operations for the Screen Print and Embroidery Department for Alabama Industries for the Blind (AIB).

ABOUT YOU

You will play a vital role in the operations, as you will be a part of the AIB team in producing high quality work. You will be required to perform your responsibilities in a manner that sets a good example for other employees to follow and demonstrate good leadership skills. Each employee should deal pleasantly and courteously with all of the AIB team to include coworkers, Plant Manager, Sales & Marketing Department and the Executive Director. You must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and deal with changes in work assignments. This position reports to the Plant Manager, AIB.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate

  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) as well as Google Suites.
  • General knowledge of office equipment and machines.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in supervisor, line leader or lead person in a manufacturing facility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience with individuals who are visually impaired or blind.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in supervisor, line leader or lead person in a Screen Print or Embroidery Shop.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must follow AIDB Policies and Procedures.
  • May be required to attend conferences, in-service training and other functions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direct supervision.
  • Possess a passion to enrich and empower the lives of persons with disabilities through providing meaningful work opportunities.
  • Be consistent with employees and hold them accountable to ensure consistent employee growth.
  • Must have the ability to communicate thoroughly and clearly with employees.
  • Complete timekeeping and payroll functions.
  • Ability to meet demanding schedules and deadlines.
  • Supervise the master schedule of production for screen-printing and embroidery orders.
  • Ability to provide organization guidance necessary to optimize the use of existing space and help determine future needs as indicated by changes in demand.
  • Stay informed of current screen-printing and embroidery technology and make recommendations for improvement associated with technological advancements.
  • Must possess or develop an understanding of cultures and needs of persons who are deaf, blind or deaf/blind, ensuring all actions and decisions demonstrate a respect for and value of persons with sensory loss.
  • Must attend Disability Sensitivity Training Class within the first six (6) months of employment.

SALARY: $15.54 - $26.57 A3 07 (260 days)

This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Payroll Schedule – Semi-monthly, Direct Deposit is required.
