The Quality Technician is responsible for providing support within the Quality Control (QC) department. This position is responsible for day-to-day activities that will impact the manufacturing operations of Guardian Couplings. The QC department supports all processes and procedures of operations, conducts quality checks and audits, as well as provides support to internal and external customers and suppliers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications. Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, micrometers, CMMs.
  • Read blueprints or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures and calibration processes required
  • Record inspection or test data.
  • Strong computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Work with Engineering and Production to ensure that products are manufactured in accordance with approved processes and prints. Assist with both internal and customer quality audits and inspections of operational and supplier programs and processes.
  • Verify and calibrate a variety of gauges.

Job Requirements:

Critical Competencies

  • General knowledge of metals machining and manufacturing process.
  • Understanding and ability to accurately use mechanical inspection tools and geometric tolerancing.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong computer skills including quality applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Experience with CMM operation and programming a plus.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Additional education in a technical field is desired
  • 3 years of experience working as a machinist or 1 year as a quality technician/specialist in a manufacturing facility producing machined components is required.
