JOB DESCRIPTION

QC Technician

Direct Supervisor: Quality Control Manager

Supervisory role? No Hourly/Non-exempt

  • Performs qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical analysis on raw materials and finished products.
  • Develops performance, packaging, and testing specifications as necessary.
  • Writes instrument calibration specifications and procedures. Maintains calibration of all measuring equipment including, but not limited to scales, torque wrenches, viscometers, etc.
  • Inspect incoming raw chemical and packaging materials for conformance to written specifications.
  • Reviews product certificates of analysis for accuracy and conformance to requirements.
  • Reviews mixing product schedules and plans accordingly for testing to specification.
  • Interface effectively with internal departments.
  • Follows reporting procedures and systems; facilitates corrective actions within process control points; initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Quarantines and disposition of nonconforming raw materials and products.
  • Maintains product quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Follows laboratory safety policies and practices.
  • Monitors stock levels and orders lab supplies.
  • Maintains a clean and efficient laboratory.
  • Legibly record and maintain laboratory records/data.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Expertise in/with the following: Brookfield Viscometers, Specific Gravity, Torque, Shear Strength, Tensile Strength, Shore Hardness, Calibration Systems, Project Planning, Kaizen Process Improvement, 5S
  • 4 year degree in science preferred.
  • Previous experience in quality control at a chemical facility supplying the automotive industry is a plus
  • Experience with adhesives and coatings is advantageous
  • Strong Written Communication Skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee will be required to stand for more than one hour at a time while working in the lab. There will also be desk duties where the employee will work at the assigned cubicle. The employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. There may be occasional traveling to the Dayton, OH facility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed inside an office/laboratory.
