Purchasing Representative

RTP Corporation located in Pompano Beach, FL, a leading manufacturer of control systems for the process and utility industries is seeking a seasoned Purchasing Rep to join our team.

Responsible for purchasing and receiving of materials, components, parts, supplies, services used by Company at the best possible value.

· Purchases raw materials, components, parts, operating supplies and service equipment as directed with best overall value.

· Determines purchasing needs and initiates purchase orders based on work orders and job site requirements.

· Initiates replacement of stock and material items in factory based on optimal inventory levels and anticipated needs.

· Initiates specialized purchases as directed.

· Uses Company business software system (ERP) for managing purchasing transactions and accurate inventory.

· Researches products and pricing for projects as requested for purposes of pricing products and quoting prices to customers for job estimates.

Secures timely delivery of quality materials by working with vendors, and controls cost by managing supplies.

· Meets with supplier representatives as necessary to update knowledge of available products and prices.

· Maintains and monitors supplier relationships.

· Works with multiple suppliers to ensure cost controls are in place, and finds alternative lower cost and higher quality parts as replacements.

· Continually sources alternative suppliers to improve overall value.

· Completes analysis of the supply base for continuous supplier consolidation and improvements.

· Expedite orders, track deliveries and resolve shipping issues.

Completes administrative duties to maintain organized processes and to facilitate communication within the organization.

· Updates and maintains of quote files.

· Verifies and inputs daily receipts into Company business software (ERP).

· Develops alternate plans for material shortages.

· Advises Supervisor of potential delivery problems.

· Sets up appropriate computer programs or paper files to maintain purchasing information.

· Monitors internal procedures, recommends changes and implements improvements as approved.

· Prepares weekly reports for Supervisor as directed

· Works with Engineers regarding special component requirements.

· Becomes involved in the estimating process to help identify component needs, costs, and availability.

· Works with Accounting personnel to ensure accurate invoicing and cost of materials.

Related Responsibilities:

· Participates in the research and development of new and improved administrative policies and practices.

· Adheres to all Company policies and procedures.

· Reports unsolved problems to Supervisor.

· Represents Company to external constituents through respectful, informative and courteous interactions and appropriate demeanor and appearance.

· Reports to work on time and regularly and sets the dependability standard for other employees to follow.

Experience:

Training in a field related to inventory/materials management, manufacturing systems or purchasing and 3 years directly related purchasing experience, inventory control, or a combination of education and work experience that provides the level of knowledge and skill to perform the above responsibilities.

Skill/Knowledge Requirements:

· Excellent and demonstrated knowledge of purchasing principles and practices required.

· Knowledge of computer materials management and applications required.

· Knowledge of manufacturing systems required.

· Knowledge of and skill to use computers and Microsoft Office business application software including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint required.

· Ability and skill to use purchasing software and manufacturing computer systems to manage purchasing area.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills to discuss technical information with others.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
