Job Description Summary

The Director – Indirect Purchasing is responsible for developing and executing the sourcing strategies for Bel indirect material and services throughout North America. They provide the organization with deep expertise in sourcing and purchasing of materials and services. The categories could include, but not be limited to: Marketing, Advertising, HR, Telecom, Utilities, Travel & Expenses, Industrial (Supervision), Supply chain. This is a hybrid role based in Bel's US Chicago Headquarters #LI-Hybrid


They are a self-starter that can provide strategic and tactical leadership across multiple categories and are responsible for developing, managing and executing sourcing initiatives for indirect categories and performing complex business data analysis to identify new sourcing and other cost optimization opportunities to generate cost savings and synergies. They are in charge of furthering Business Process Improvement initiatives. They are responsible for negotiating complex / competitive programs and communicating to internal stakeholders the value propositions associated with each category proposal. They work collaboratively with internal user departments to lead , optimize, and execute the purchase and governance of these indirect expense categories across the organization.


Job Responsibilities

Responsible for all indirect activities across the organization

  • Develop best practice sourcing methodologies to negotiate and manage Indirect Procurement programs. Each engagement will require in depth Market Sector Strategy/Review that will provide a “real time” pulse of the market to gain competitive insight, provide category direction and optimize benefits of each category initiative.
  • Define, measure, analyze and deploy company-wide category strategies and improvement projects across the company
  • Conduct strategic negotiations with key suppliers
  • Establish and manage SLA’s and KPI’s for each category
      • Create and incorporate appropriate performance levels for suppliers and accurately measure, forecast and report ongoing program cost savings
      • Institute reporting capabilities associated with category specific activities
      • Develop both internal and external communications to influence and advise management and update / instruct suppliers on performance levels
  • Manage, coach, and develop the Indirect senior Buyer
      • Provide guidance and direction on Industrial categories
      • Provide support to ensure harmonization between the 2 plants

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in related fields (Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Engineering)

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have 8 years of experience in strategic material and services sourcing to be considered for this position
  • Experience in contract development, execution, and management.
  • Team leadership in a cross functional environment, project management skills

SKILLS

  • Planning, organization, and execution skills,
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent numerical and analytic skills; Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Leadership / Team Building
  • C.P.M. or APICS certification preferred
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g. Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, etc.)
  • Root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to derive insight from large amounts of data from diverse sources
  • Strong skills on specification and contract writing
  • Strong communication skill (internal & external)

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to travel 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift 30 – 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day
