Purpose of Position

This posting will be used to conduct ongoing recruitment and will remain open until position has been filled.

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of the closing date.

Why does the job exist?

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in planning, organizing, and implementing Fort Bayard Medical Center¿s purchasing program in accordance with New Mexico State Procurement Laws, facility specific policies and procedures and regulatory agency requirements. This includes but is not limited to the development and maintenance of various types of contracts general and professional and for the purchase of all goods or services whereby the operation of the facility may be expedited thereby.

How does it get done?

The key resposibilites are broken down into five areas as listed below: The job gets done by understanding how each of these areas impact the daily operation of a long-term-care facility from patient care, comfort and satisfaction to fiscal responsibility.

These responsibilties all take place in a fast-paced warehouse setting within a long-term-care facility and require applicants to think critically, plan, develop, communicate, organize, implement, evaluate and direct programs, and various activities and projects effectively whereby procurement and logisitcs are expedited thereby.
Perform all necessary administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc.,
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments with the facility to assure that procurement procedures meet the needs of the facility.

Residents and Staff of a Long-Term Care Facility.

Ideal Candidate

Will have:
Knowledge of New Mexico State Procurement Laws or relatable governement procurement background.
Background in supply and logistics including inventory control, contract management / negotiation and moderate to advanced knowlegde of warehousing and supply chain.
Have critical thinking skills to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., that are necessary for assuring adequate resources are provided all relatively independently. Be friendly and collaborative with the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and Finance and two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement and/or warehouse clerking. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Successful completion of a criminal background check is required. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver¿s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification.

Working Conditions

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

Work is performed in an office setting, with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive computer and telephone usage. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
