Job Title: PTL Quality Leader


Department: SC SBU Material & SIOP

Reports To: ISC SBU Material & SIOP Leader

Location: Southern Pines / Hybrid

POSITION SUMMARY: The Leader of PTL Quality is responsible for managing the Supplier, Operational and Customer quality programs by monitoring the end-to-end supply chain quality performance while identifying potential issues to improve quality and efficiency. The Leader will work cross-functionally between manufacturing, engineering and purchasing to manage quality projects, supports resolution of problems and ensures continuous improvement in processes.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Quality Leader includes, but not limited to the following job duties.

  • Ensure improvement on CAPA resolutions utilizing engineered solutions and tangible sustainment plans, launch and monitor PTL Quality scorecard, and strategically align Plant quality improvement metrics.
  • Manages the process used to develop and update the Supplier inbound, SCAR improvements, charge back procedures and processes that are used to assure the timely availability and appropriateness of product information, samples, certifications or official documents that are needed to meet local market regulatory requirements or to support product claims and naming in domestic and international markets.
  • Translate and link customers with the highest requirements, to supplier processes and capabilities; implement continuous improvement actions at both the supplier level and IR site level to align with those requirements, then right size those requirements and actions for similar processes across the business.
  • Integrate perpetual Risk management and mitigation into PTL processes and scorecard. Prioritize and implement Improvement Actions by potential impact.
  • Manages the interface with other functions to recommend and oversee updates of company operating procedures, training programs, resource manuals, standards manuals and operational tools that are related to product safety, product function, and ISO regulatory compliance and audits.
  • Ensure management and maintenance of all Quality System elements to meet company’s business needs, developing company best practices, standards, and continuous improvement, and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Represents QA on internal teams in order to respond to complicated consumer, media, and other external organization inquiries about products, operating practices, claims, or labeling information.
  • Reviews, ensures understanding of and utilizes appropriate regulations and guidelines to meet requirements and protocols necessary to secure regulatory approval for products and operating procedures in all markets.
  • Uses department procedures and manages the gathering and review of product information from suppliers worldwide.
  • Leads, Coaches, mentors, trains and provides direction, including peers and subordinates, encouraging effective teamwork and positive relationships with other functional areas by developing and overseeing execution of the PTL Quality plans.
  • Implement the performance measurements necessary to effectively evaluate trends in product quality, services, customer satisfaction and the cost of poor quality.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has supervisory responsibilities (Supplier Development & Supplier Optimization Engineers)

  • Manufacturing environment experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical materials
  • Ability to maintain accurate records relating to jobs as they are planned performed and completed. Skill to use electronic means for recording data
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration between cross functional groups
  • Develops and implements programs and standards or manufacturer/supplier quality system and product quality auditing
  • Progressive experience within a quality assurance department including manufacturing operations, product QA, supplier, distribution or international quality assurance in planning
  • Project management and implementation
  • Mindset on effective implementation and continual improvement of business processes rather than merely “passing” external audits
  • Ability to engage and motivate auditees at all levels to see the value in the findings, address non-conformances, and drive continual improvement
  • Ability to effectively present information and interface with executives, Leaders, internal customers, suppliers
  • Problem analysis/resolution at both a strategic and functional level
  • Business/financial orientation, including good understanding of Cost of Poor Quality
  • Team player, capable of working in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, or Business/Management
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Licenses or certifications preferred in: ISO, CQE, ASQ, QMS, AQC, 9001, ITIL, ISO9001, CMQ/OE, COPC
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with solid track record of Quality Management system development, implementation and audit management for mid to large size organizations
  • Deep knowledge of best-practice in QA processes and effective problem solving skills, high degree of initiative, creativity and strong attention to detail
