Position Description

DEFINITION:

To assist in design, social media, marketing and public relations efforts for the Wilson Center and Wilma Daniels Gallery; support Wilson Center assessment initiatives.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives general direction and supervision by the Wilson Center Director of Marketing.
  • Exercises supervision over Volunteer Street Team, provides general guidance to marketing interns.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensure that all marketing and public relations procedures and projects are in compliance with the CFCC Marketing Office.
  • Monitor the appropriate use of the College’s and Center’s names, marketing brands, trademarks, etc., and ensuring compliance with the College’s associated policies.
  • Coordinate and manage inventory of marketing related equipment.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with audiences using traditional and innovative communication and retention techniques, including e-newsletters and social media.
  • Coordinate for publicity, photography/videography, and generate media exposure through general press releases and focused pitches.
  • Assist in planning and implementing group sales marketing and special audience engagement events.
  • Oversees design and distribution for all print pieces, including season brochures, mailings, and playbills.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining the Center Facebook page, Twitter account, YouTube page, and all other social media accounts.
  • Masterfully utilize technology and creativity to create all visual aspects of Wilson Center, including, but not limited to: web graphics, video, posters, banners, internal branding resources, concessions menus and other resources.
  • Support marketing copy and strategies in digital media and oversee internal video marketing.
  • Maintain all virtual community calendars and presences.
  • Maintain Center archives.
  • Support membership and ad marketing.
  • Be vigilant and proactive in anticipating and meeting client and guest needs during an event.
  • Educate, enforce, update, and lead by example for Volunteer Corps concerning guidelines, guest services and safety.
  • Maintain a clean driving record in order to operate all vehicles, including 15 passenger vans.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Creative Cloud)
  • Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
  • Industry specific requirements, technology and equipment utilized.
  • North Carolina traffic laws and driving rules.


Ability to:

  • Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Lift up to 50 or more pounds.
  • Embody and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, even in stressful and/or demanding situations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including artists, agents, rental clients, donors, high profile clients and guests, students, college faculty and staff, and the general public.
  • Assist in training and supervision.
  • Work independently with sound judgement, even in absence of direct supervisor.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Create and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Perform mathematical computations.
  • Work weekends and/or evening hours as required.
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
    • making observations

    • examining incoming equipment, materials and supplies
    • Handling varied tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which include the following:

  • Lifting, stooping, climbing, bending and carrying materials, or lifting up to 50 pounds

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:


Minimum Education/Training:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent


Minimum Experience
:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated successful experience in a marketing, communications or graphic design role, preferably within higher education, performing arts, or another similar field.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud software
  • Experience collaborating with team members with other areas of expertise to produce high-visibility and high-quality design projects, from conception to delivery.
  • Clean driving record. No traffic moving violations


Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills
:

  • Graphic design knowledge and experience in either an administrative or creative role.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Video production and/or editing experience
  • Social Media and/or advertising experience
  • Experience with Air Table, Canva, WordPress, and/or Google Drive
  • Arts administration/arts presenting operations experience.
