Experience:

  • 24 months of Psychiatric Unit experience is required.
  • 18 months of travel experience is required.
  • Experience with Epic is required.
  • Experience with Omnicell is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a South Dakota license or compact license in hand at the time of application.
  • This role may require floating to additional units and locations
  • Candidates must live at least 100 miles away from this facility in order to be eligible to apply for this role.
  • COVID vaccination required for onboarding. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

Scheduling:

Weekend rotation: every other weekend; 12 hours on the weekend and also could be a combo on Fri, Sat or Sun - Combo shifts are 2 12’s and 2 8’s in a week; days and eves rotating

Will they be on call? They could be low census on call depending on acuity.

Holiday Expectations: If you work one major holiday of Thanksgiving or Christmas, you get the other one off each year. Other holidays are first request or as the schedule allows. 2/4 holidays are required.

Approval of time off? Through Supervisors. No RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (2 weeks in August)

Floating:

If we are over staffed for census we float usually techs to the ED or towers. We are located off site of main campus, across town about 15 min. away.

RN’s/LPN’s could float between the (3) floors at this off site Behavioral Health facility

Required Education:

Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Skills required:

Be able to do a take down and physical restraint on an agitated patient if necessary, verbal de-escalation, group didactic skills, good communication skills; Team Nursing approach – RN will administer their own meds (injectable and PO) pass meds, evaluate care plans and note progress and documentation, admission screens, Assessments, minor wound care, EKGS (we train), glucometer, take telephone or verbal orders, acknowledge orders, vital signs, the Columbia suicide risk screen, end of shift report, log in patient belongings, screenings and discharge planning
