CoveCare Center has a full time opening for a PROS Employment Specialist. We are seeking an individual that shares our vision of partnering with individuals, families and the community to foster hope, wellness and recovery.

The Employment Specialists provide job development, short-term job coaching as well as vocational rehabilitation and support services, and coordinate rehabilitation readiness activities, and services to people with psychiatric disabilities in the PROS program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides job development through creating partnerships with local employers;
  • Provides job coaching and other interventions that are targeted to helping individuals succeed in a specific job-related task;
  • Provides direct support with helping an individual find and procure a job; including resume writing, completing applications, scheduling, and participating in interviews;
  • Intervenes with an employer to resolve an issue regarding the individual or the workplace;
  • Provides assistance with benefits and financial management;
  • Provides assistance with connecting with outside benefit navigators;
  • Provides assistance with benefits paperwork or applications;
  • Attends NYESS training and implements all NYESS documentation requirements;
  • Completes IPS annual fidelity self-assessments;
  • 50% of the of time will be spent in community-based service delivery;
  • Provides individual and group counseling and case management on-site, in the field, or in the home;
  • Provides vocational readiness activities and vocational assessments for individuals;
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and conferences;
  • Refers applicants to ancillary services;
  • Coordinates and acts as a liaison with other community service providers;
  • Accompanies clients to offsite activities;
  • Maintains records in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with regulations;
  • Collects and synthesizes data for use in problem-solving in order to assess and address a client’s needs;
  • Understands and disseminates information on community resources; particularly public benefits and entitlements;
  • Assists with program and agency crises.
Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of relevant experience in a behavioral health-supported employment setting. vocational rehabilitation, CRC desired. A thorough knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques used in mental health and the factors that contribute to personality development and a thorough knowledge of the social factors affecting mental health is required. Must have basic computer literacy and excellent verbal and written skills. An insurable driver’s license is required, and the use of own car may be needed
