Position Description

Experienced project superintendent for general contractor on projects between $1-5 million. This position may require in Multi State Travel. Must have experience working for commercial general contractor(s) as a project superintendent.

Position Responsibilities

Studies plans and specifications to plan construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction. Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules. Confers with and directs personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays. Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods. Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules. Prepares or reviews reports on progress and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports. Directs and schedules work by subcontractors. Prepares weekly updated three-week look-ahead schedule. Act as on-site safety supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Language Ability - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must have basic carpentry hand and power tools. Must be able to interpret grades and use a laser to mark grades. Must have computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Exchange as well as tasks such as photo uploading and daily report creation.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. A valid driver's license is a must due to travel requirements.
