The Project Engineer (Retrofit) shall review Request for Quotations (RFQ), evaluate existing designs, and determine required changes or modifications based on new application information. The Project Engineer (Retrofit) shall determine required scope, produce project cost estimates, and create Sales proposals based on the evaluation. The Project Engineer (Retrofit) shall develop, detail, and finalize the new technical project design, including overseeing most project manager and CAD design related activities. This information shall be presented in the form of detailed project specific process flow diagrams, process & instrumentation diagrams, general arrangement drawings, structural drawings, electrical drawings, data sheets, bills of materials, process & control narratives and installation, operation & maintenance reference literature. This work along with any other required data must be accomplished whilst complying with the company standards, the project proposal and the customers’ specifications or input.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

In general, the Enerflex Project Engineer will lead all other Engineering Groups (process, instrumentation, controls, design & drafting, vessels and purchasing) in performing all tasks required to support the production of the final product. In addition, the Enerflex Project Engineer work with the Project Manager to coordinating all logistical particulars with the customer and all other departments within Enerflex. The Enerflex Project Engineer will be responsible for the engineered items including procurement as outlined in the detailed responsibilities listed below.

Interface with the Enerflex sales Team, the Enerflex operations Team and our Customers

  • Post project award, liaise with the Enerflex sales Team to hand over all data used for estimating and understand the background and particulars associated with the project.
  • Identify the customer’s requirements (technical/products problems, execution issues) and bring effective solutions.
  • Clarify technical issues with the customer (technical clarification, answer technical comments, deviation requests) and achieve a resolution.
  • Attend certain internal and external meetings (kick off, coordination, HAZOP etc.).

Lead internal design activities and technical decisions to support the project

  • Develop the project P&ID’s and requisition all major equipment and coordinate all other deliverables.
  • Participate in all aspects of design review with the project team.
  • Ensure proper understanding of the Customer’s technical needs inside Enerflex.
  • Generate the engineered Bill of Material for the assigned project items.

Lead the Quality Assurance program for the Enerflex designed products

  • Ensure accuracy of job quality requirements.
  • Perform P&ID walk down of final package to ensure compliance with design.

Own the planning of all engineering activities

  • Manage and schedule drawing list submitted to the customer.
  • Follow up on technical issues through shipment and commissioning as needed.
  • Manage and control engineering hours allocated to the job.
  • Support the correct scheduling and monitor the progress of vendor drawings.

Support and interface with other company functions

  • Project Management: Report on engineering issues and progress for all assigned items.
  • Design & Drafting: Coordinate and approve all design & drafting deliverables.
  • Project Engineering: Technical interface with suppliers to obtain quotations for all assigned items.
  • Purchasing: Technical interface with buyers to confirm BOM accuracy for all assigned items.
  • Manufacturing: Technical interface with shop personnel and field operations for all assigned items.
  • Quality: Identify all testing specifications and signoff on all testing activities.
  • Service: Support activities for all installation, commissioning, and startup needs.
  • Network and develop relationships with customers to further the Enerflex brand reputation and promise.
  • Model and champion Enerflex core values in ways that center team culture on these values.
  • Abide by and promote the Enerflex HSE policy.

Job Specifications

  • Engineering or Engineering Technology degree or equivalent background
  • Minimum Five years of experience, preferably in reciprocating compressor packaging or related field
  • Solid IT skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Teamwork attitude
  • Strong and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Capability of synthesis of complex problems
  • Solid customer-oriented skills (communicator, explainer)
  • Basic knowledge of the fundamentals required by the equipment used in our products:

Training

Enerflex will provide sufficient training for all new Project Engineers to help them understand the processes, systems and business models that exist at Enerflex, so that they have the necessary technical aptitude to execute their work efficiently and effectively. The amount of training time devoted will depend on the person’s background, however it is expected that a college graduate will require additional training when compared to a person with work experience.
