Project Engineer II

We are looking for a Project Engineer I who will support the Project Manager in ensuring the successful completion of some of the largest, most complex projects in the company. You’ll be a part of our Construction Group that services electrical projects across Southern California in Commercial, Healthcare, Public Works, Education, and more.

We have completed projects throughout Southern California and our project portfolio includes commercial, healthcare, public works, multi-family, utility and commercial scale solar, and service and controls. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Partner with the Project Manager to create project schedules based on estimated hours, electrical tasks, project milestones, resource leveling, and project criteria.
  • Provide internal Project Management / Engineering coordination on design build projects.
  • Coordinate with Field personnel and Tier-Subcontractor Representatives to ensure scheduling milestones are being met.
  • Provide top-level customer service to clients
  • Review all Requests for Information (RFIs), check these to the project drawings and specifications (single line diagrams and electrical drawings), and submit as necessary.
  • Review, track, and coordinate completion of submittals
  • Manage purchase orders for the light fixtures and switch gear
  • Manage the closing of the project by coordinating the completion of the project punch list.
  • Process change orders and assist in the pricing of these requests as needed
In the first 30, 60, 90 days you’ll be expected to:
  • Become accustom to Baker Electric processes and systems
  • Anticipate needs of Project Manager
  • Comfortably communicate with the field and clients with consistent communication

TO BE SUCCESSFUL – EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred (Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, etc.)
  • 1-2 years of experience in the construction industry is preferred
  • Electrical classes and/or electrical field experience is a plus
  • Curiosity in Electrical Systems and Commercial Construction
  • Proven ability to complete tasks accurately and on time, providing top level customer service
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Exude key competencies, such as, attention to detail, problem solving and initiative
